6:00 – 7:30 AM: Hotel Pick-Up
Pick-up from your hotel in Diani, Tiwi, or Mombasa (exact time depends on location).
Drive south to Shimoni, near the Tanzania border (approx. 1.5–2.5 hours depending on start point).
Light breakfast/snack en route (some packages include this).
8:30 AM: Arrival at Shimoni Jetty
Meet the crew and receive a briefing.
Board the traditional Arab dhow, fully equipped with safety gear, shaded deck, and life jackets.
9:00 AM: Dhow Cruise & Dolphin Spotting
Set sail towards Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park.
Keep an eye out for bottlenose dolphins, often seen playing near the dhow.
Occasionally, humpback whales (in season: July–Sept).
10:00 AM: Snorkeling in Kisite Marine Park
Anchor near the coral reef for guided snorkeling.
Snorkel among vibrant coral gardens, tropical fish, and maybe even sea turtles.
Non-swimmers can enjoy the view from the dhow or use floatation aids.
12:30 PM: Lunch on Wasini Island
Sail to Wasini Island for a delicious Swahili seafood lunch (usually includes crab, fish, coconut rice, chapati; vegetarian options available).
Enjoy ocean views in a traditional seaside restaurant.
1:30 – 2:30 PM: Optional Cultural or Nature Walk
Short guided walk through Wasini village, coral gardens, or mangroves (optional and depending on time/tides).
Alternatively, relax by the sea after lunch.
2:30 – 3:00 PM: Return to Shimoni
Sail back to Shimoni jetty aboard the dhow.
Fresh fruit and soft drinks may be served on board.
3:00 – 3:30 PM: Optional Visit to Shimoni Slave Caves
Visit the historic Shimoni caves, once used in the East African slave trade (optional, ~$5 entrance fee).
3:30 – 5:30 PM: Return to Hotel
Transfer back to your hotel in Diani, Tiwi, or Mombasa.
Drop-off by late afternoon/early evening.
